The West Central Airshed Society (www.wcas.ca) is a non-profit organization that is endorsed by Alberta Environment and supported by area industry (of which TransAlta is a member). In 2002, the West Central Air Shed expanded their boundary to the east, which will include the Lake Wabamun area and more importantly TransAlta’s operations. Three additional air monitoring stations will be placed around Lake Wabamun. The following link will allow one to monitor real time data as it relates to weather/atmospheric conditions around the Lake.

These new monitoring stations will provide valuable atmospheric conditions (temperature, wind speed and direction) and important air monitoring information (sulphur dioxide, oxides of nitrogen, hydrocarbons, ground level ozone, particulate and ammonia) which should only assist the stake holders around Lake Wabamun in evaluating potential impacts from TransAlta’s operations.
